Awful experience and workmanship - had to take them to court and we won our legal battle! Used Jamie Clarkson for a side first floor extension. Meant to take 10 weeks but took 8 months to finish (Nov 2021-July 2022). Then major problems with some of the work became apparent - leaking gutters, leaking and blocking 20ft soil pipe, shower not working, faulty shower tray fitted, returned goods not refunded, refusing to pay back an overpayment following an incorrect invoice. We were unable to use the bathroom. We chased the company for a further 5 months to attempt to get them to resolve the shoddy work but they started ignoring all attempts at communicating - ghosting us for months. We used the Federation of Master Builders dispute service which Clarkson dragged out for a year (Nov 2022- Nov 2023) , saying they would repay us the money owed and fix all the work but they never did and got expelled from the FMB for not complying. We then took them to court which took a further 15 months (April 2024-July 2025). We won all areas of our court case and the judge made Clarkson pay the money owed plus money for someone else to complete the dodgy work. This was the most stressful and gruelling 4 years of our lives, not only having incomplete and faulty work and not fully being able to use our extension, but Jamie's cruel and unreasonable attitude and behaviour towards the build and ourselves, dragging the whole thing out for as long as he could to avoid finishing the job, despite a huge amount of evidence to show the faults, plus professional reports. We have 3 young kids, jobs, normal life struggles, so to have the builder stress and legal stress for 4 years on top was horrendous and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through it. Don’t be fooled by the charm and false website claims like we were - 100% of customers cannot be happy if you're being taken to court. Not worth the risk. They also trade under Clarkson Builders, Charles Francis Developments Limited, W J Clarkson & Son Ltd. Avoid!

I have used the company twice, and I would recommend it for providing good results at a fair price, with friendly service.

No knowledge of building services but the lax attitude towards parking of vehicles and safety of those around building site is abhorrent. When challenged on the matter members of Clarkson then became verbally abusive. I cannot comment on the building but dealing with members of the team would make me question using them as a reputable company.

The guys at Clarkson builders completed 2 landscaping jobs at our property first they completed a new patio and then returned to lay brand new turf, they were extremely tidy and respectful of our property. We are really pleased with the result, would have no problem recommending them.
