Proficiency Design and Build

We have just completed a 9 month renovation with Proficiency – we took our house right back to the stud walls and rebuilt it with a rear extension, replacement roof, all new electrics and plumbing etc. Overall, we had a fantastic experience with the entire team, we have done projects before and definitely would not go back and use any of those builders, however, I would not hesitate to recommend Proficiency. We had a very positive impression of the company right from our first meeting, they clearly understood what we wanted to do and were able to suggest lots of things which we hadn’t thought of. We had a brilliant team, we worked with Phil as our contracts manager, Ammar as our project manager with Bessi taking the lead on site and Luli overseeing plumbing and electrics. If you are doing a project then definitely request Bessi and Luli to be on your site, they are both fantastic and a lot of fun to work with. Bessi is a perfectionist, he will get your project done on time and to a high standard, he can come up with a solution to any problem, he’s always calm and relaxed and is obsessed with the site being clean and tidy (which I loved!). Luli is also amazing, he will get everything done exact how you want and with an ever-present smile on his face, no request is too much for him. They are both very communicative, explain exactly what is going on, respond to queries immediately and make you feel confident about the work every step of the way. Building strong working relationships and trust is important, especially when you are doing work which is inherently stressful and that was easy with Proficiency. The team are easy to communicate with, very responsive, always available and very polite and respectful. Obviously, with a project of this size, there were some niggles and frustrations along the way, but the team made these easy to resolve and we were always able to easily reach a solution or a compromise and we never came close to having a proper disagreement. Naturally, having building work next door wasn’t great for our neighbours but Bessi invested time in developing relationships with them, quickly responding to any queries or issues and working hard to make it as pain free for them as it could be, this was really helpful, as the last thing you want is for your neighbours to hate you before you have even moved in…! Timeliness – the work was completed on time. The entire team work very hard, they come early and stay late. Due to a number of reasons (not their fault) it got quite close to the wire towards the end and they stayed to 10pm some nights to make sure that we were able to hit our move in date. At times I had my doubts but Bessi repeatedly told me that it would be fine – as it was….! Quality - the team take real pride in their work and everything is done to a very high standard. Bessi is very detailed focused and if he doesn’t like what someone has done then he will make them re-do it. We have been very impressed with the attention to detail and the standard of finishing. We only moved in a couple of months ago so it’s a little early to report any teething problems. I would not hesitate to recommend Proficiency.

This company is highly unprofessional. My neighbour commissioned them for a build and they have set up scaffolding in my front and back garden without prior consent.

We contracted proficiency to build our rear and side extension and renovate the ground floor. The teams execution of the build was excellent. Good communication at all stages of the build and managed timelines well despite some of unexpected challenges along the way. Very considerate and flexible as we lived in the property throughout. Great team, very professional, responsive and hard working. Extremely happy with the end result and the quality. An amazing family space that has exceeded my expectations.

Proficiency have just completed a full renovation, large rear extension and loft conversion to our house in Crouch End. The whole team were great - really pleasant to deal with throughout even when inevitable challenges came up. They delivered on time too. Would happily recommend to anyone needing major building works.
