Called alpha pluming out at short notice for an emergency job in Mansfield - 5* service turned up within 15 minutes - got me out of a big problem on site within the hour. Friendly, professional and reasonably priced. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend if you need a plumber in mansfield

Had a toilet and sink fitted and then an outdoor tap, couldn’t ask for a better service, makes sure everything is done to a high standard, doesn’t over charge pricing is always fair, wouldn’t go anywhere else for my plumbing needs now.

Googled out of hours plumbing and Alpha was top of the list . I called them at about 1740 on a Friday evening . Desperate to have our only toilet repaired as the flush had packed in. Chap I spoke to said we can get someone out to you within 45 minutes. I was happy and said thank you . The guy talking to me said I had to pay the call out charge over the phone . He then proceeded to take my card payment which was £72.00 . 1 hour and 15 minutes later over half an hour later than initially told . A plumber called Paul arrived . Time it took him to get here irrelevant as we were desperate as already mentioned previously. Paul the plumber heads to the bathroom and begins working . Sometime later he says to me i am in luck he needs to go to Screwfix Bullwell to pick up a dual flush height Adjustable syphon it is still open. To save Paul time I said it's ok you can work on dismantling the toilet and I will drive to Screwfix and collect the Syphon. Also trying to minimise the time he would be working on the job and save ourselves some money. I returned with the item and after a lot of huffing and puffing and drilling etc . The plumber says he should not have taken the job on because our toilet is completely knackered . He told me he could get it working again and he knew it was our only toilet. However we would need to buy a brand new toilet ASAP and he would fit it for us. During the two hours Paul was here he took four phone calls from his next client asking where he was and how long he would be. He also went to his van several times for equipment. I have no problem with that however one trip outside to the van he was gone for about 10-15 minutes I went outside to see where he was and he was closing up the back doors. Eventually when he had completed the job he again said I needed a new toilet soonest . He then said he had found more work that needed repairing during the repair to the Syphon. And then said he could not place the toilet in it's original position flush to the wall . This was because he did not have the correct size pan connector. So I looked and our toilet was away from the wall at an angle and when you sat on it it tipped to the side. I was just happy it was flushing and accepted his reason for it not fitting flush with the wall and back.in it's original position At this stage I asked how much and he said I will just work out your invoice. After a minute or so he calmly said £445.00 . I was absolutely gobsmacked he said all the extra work he had uncovered had added to the cost. The invoice which I could hardly read looked like it has been written by a child . Said £45.00 for parts . £400.00 for labour . Anyway I paid and the next day rang a different company. They came out Monday the 05th February and put my toilet back to it original position using a different pan connector .They replaced some piping and another component in the systern. Charged me £40.00 and I actually teared up and said £40..00 really . He said yes you have been ripped off so I am just charging you for the parts and not the labour . He was here for an hour and a half. And he said I definitely never needed a new toilet. So my advice is please please please don't use Alpha . There charges were £200 per hour for labour. Today's plumber would have charged £120 for the first hour and £75.00 for the second then parts on top if he was fixing our toilet out of hours .
